Science says only 8% of people actually achieve their goals. Not having enough time is a common barrier that is cited. I’m sure many will agree. It seems that there is not enough time in the day to get all tasks completed. This leads to feelings of overwhelm, stress and frustration and others stay stuck. But the facts are this – everyone gets the same 24 hours. Success is not dependent on how much time you have. It’s dependent on how you spend your time.
In, “The One thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results”, the authors Gary Keller and Jay Papasan, share that there are lies we tell ourselves about success and one of them is that everything matters equally. They don’t.
Understanding this is the basis of all great decisions. When everything feels urgent and important it seems equal. but they’re not. Leading us to spend time on activities that slow processes, our performance and achievements.
To make of the most of your time, remember to practice the 80/20 rule. It’s proven that 80% of success comes from 20% of effort. Start by identifying your 20%. Transform your to do list into a success list. Simple determine what you should do versus what you could. And ensure those tasks get done first and you’re on your way to faster results.
Make it a habit to write down or record your success list. This extra step helps with retention and execution.
Know this! What you focus on becomes your reality. Invest your time wisely and you will reach your goals.
